Professional Women's Chamber Season Kickoff Luncheon featuring Kathleen Corbet
Kathleen Corbet is an accomplished professional with over 30 years in global leadership experience in the financial services industry; and over a decade of experience in board governance for corporate, civic and philanthropic institutions. She is a frequent public speaker on women's issues including career development, entrepreneurship, elected office and poverty alleviation.
Kathleen is a small business entrepreneur and founder of Cross Ridge Capital, LLC, a firm specializing in private investing and strategic consulting in the financial information services industry. She is keenly interested in investments in women-owned and managed businesses that contribute to the advancement of our society through information transparency, efficiency and job growth.
She has served on the board of directors for MassMutual Financial Group - a Fortune 100 company - since 2008 and was elected to serve as Lead Director in 2015. Ms. Corbet was formerly President of Standard & Poor's (S&P) from 2004-2007 and previously at asset-manager AllianceBernstein LP, as Executive Vice President and CEO of the firm's fixed income division.
Committed to her community, Kathleen was appointed to the Board of Finance in New Canaan, Connecticut and served from 2006 - 2010. In 2012, Connecticut Governor Dannel P. Malloy appointed Ms. Corbet to serve on the board of directors of the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority, a position she held until 2014. Inspired by the local and state-wide experience in politics, she ran for Town Council in 2013 and was elected to serve as Councilman for a four-year term. She also serves as a Justice of the Peace for the State of Connecticut.
Kathleen serves on the board of trustees for The Jackson Laboratory - a non-profit bio-medical and genetics research institute and formerly as a director of Pro Mujer International - a non-profit organization dedicated to women's empowerment and breaking the cycle of poverty in Latin America - where she now serves as a senior advisor.
Ms. Corbet was a member of the Boston College Board of Trustees where she served as chair of the Advancement Committee and member of the Buildings & Properties and Nominations & Governance Committees over a 13-year tenure. She now serves as Trustee Associate for the university.
Ms. Corbet graduated from Boston College with a B.S. in Marketing and Computer Science and received her M.B.A. in Finance (with distinction) from New York University's Stern School of Business. She is the recipient of numerous awards including the Humanitarian of the Year Award from Pro Mujer International (2011); the James F. Cleary Master Fundraiser Award from Boston College (2008); the Nichols Award for integrity, enterprise and service from the NYU Stern School of Business (2006); and the Centenary Medal for service to Australian society in business leadership (2003).
Kathleen and her husband, Randy, have been married for 30 years and have two sons in college.
